Network engineer

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer with a background in data-center environments and experience working with telecom operators, Internet service providers and network carriers.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, operating and troubleshooting secure and reliable network infrastructure. The role combines hands-on technical work with incident management, network improvement, supplier coordination and documentation.

You will work closely with internal/External IT and security teams.

Main responsibilities

• Design, configure, operate and maintain enterprise and data-center networks.
• Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and wireless infrastructure.
• Manage LAN, WAN, VLAN, routing and Internet connectivity.
• Coordinate installations, incidents and service changes with telecom operators, carriers and ISPs.
• Troubleshoot network outages, packet loss, latency, routing problems and connectivity issues.
• Configure and maintain site-to-site and remote-access VPN solutions.
• Implement network segmentation and access-control policies.
• Support firewall policy management and network security improvements.
• Monitor network availability, performance, capacity and security.
• Analyze logs, alarms, network traffic and flow information.
• Participate in major incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Perform data-center activities, including equipment installation, cabling, patching and hardware replacement.
• Plan and execute network changes, upgrades and maintenance activities.
• Maintain network diagrams, IP address plans, configuration records and technical procedures.
• Manage backups of network-device configurations.
• Work with suppliers on circuit delivery, fault resolution and service-level follow-up.
• Participate in on-call duty and planned maintenance when required.

Required experience and qualifications

• Previous professional experience as a Network Engineer, Network Technician or in a similar role.
• Hands-on experience working in a data center or other business-critical infrastructure environment.
• Experience working with telecom operators, carriers or Internet service providers.
• Strong knowledge of:
• TCP/IP and the OSI model
• IPv4 and IPv6
• Switching, VLANs, trunking and Spanning Tree
• Static and dynamic routing
• BGP and OSPF
• NAT, DNS and DHCP
• WAN and Internet connectivity
• Site-to-site and remote-access VPNs
• Firewall policies and network access control
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise network equipment.
• Ability to analyze network traffic using logs, packet captures and monitoring tools.
• Understanding of network redundancy, high availability and failover.
• Experience with incident, problem and change-management processes.
• Good written and spoken English.

Desirable experience

• Experience with Fortinet, Juniper, Cisco, Extreme Networks or similar platforms.
• FortiGate firewall and FortiManager experience.
• Experience with MLAG, link aggregation, VRRP or other high-availability technologies.
• Knowledge of SD-WAN and multi-site network architecture.
• Experience with IPsec, SSL VPN and remote-access solutions.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as PRTG, Zabbix, Nagios or SolarWinds.
• Experience with centralized logging, NetFlow, sFlow or IPFIX analysis.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including segmentation, least privilege and secure network design.
• Experience with cloud networking in Microsoft Azure
• Knowledge of network automation using PowerShell, Python, Ansible or APIs.
